After 34 years of clocking in and out of work and religiously saving at least 10% annually in my 401K every year, in good times and bad, I have decided to share my monthly dividend income to show what regular saving and investing can accomplish.
For the month of September I made $5,192.28; an increase of 38.31% versus this time last year. This marks the first time I have ever crossed the $5K so an awesome month on this front for sure.
In September I received four dividend raise announcements from Microsoft Corp. (MSFT), Artesian Resources (ARTNA), Lockheed Martin (LMT), and OGE Energy (OGE). Of the four only the OGE raise was unexpected as I had forecasted a 3% raise, but they issued a 1.7% raise which was disappointing but a raise none the less.
On the home front my expenses have remained the same which means my savings rate has stayed steady at 24.9%. I have no pics or adventures for the month. September is tough month as we sadly say goodbye to summer and its warm days, the swimming pool gets covered and winterized and of course the day becomes that much shorter as the sun sets so quickly. The trees around my house are mostly green with a touch yellow, orange, or red on their edges, a sign that peak autumn foliage is just a few weeks away.
Enough of me droning on about the passing of another summer let’s see the things we all love to see…charts and dividend payouts:

Thank you D&H, it is definitely getting up there. This divvy income has to fund 2 people as my wife does not have a 401K.

Solid progress there SDG. 38.31% for YoY growth is just awesome. There are so many interesting companies on your list that have missed my radar. I will look into those closely.

Thanks LWD, a lot of the positions I bought many years ago. Companies currently that I like are AMGN, HAS, LEG, LMT, MRK, SJM, UL & WBA, I might throw 3M in there if share price drops below $170.
I’m full up on utility stocks but that sector looks well priced; AQN, ALE, AVA, & PNW in particular look decent and sure there are more.

I thought my 21.6% Y/Y was pretty good until I saw your 38.3%. Good job. I too like AMGN and 3M but am preparing to drop HAS since there’s been no div increase since 2019 and with possible supply chain headwinds.

Thank you SR,
In 2020 I reduced my cash position from 20% to 10% and took advantage of the market prices and it paid off nicely for the YoY growth as well as the large amount of div increases this year.
I agree HAS is a gamble and hoping supply chain issues bring the price down. Their studio productions came back online at the start of the year and it may be enough for them to offset and possibly issue a small raise in February though I doubt it will happen. Just looking to capitalize on share price until global trade starts recovering after which I’ll dial back any investments.

Amazing amazing results. That amount of growth with your numbers is awesome. Your monthly haul is my capital investment of over 8 months!

Thank you Mr. Robot but in all fairness I’m nearing the end of my FI journey and you are early into it. I can say if we compared to where I was at your leg of the journey you would be firmly ahead.
I am continually amazed at how grounded and focused today’s young investors are and enjoy reading their stories.

Thats a nice thing to say, thanks! I like structure, focus and building so that helps. That being said I do find it difficult sometimes that this is a marathon and nog a sprint. 🙂

Thank you CP, funny you mention JNJ because that was one of the first stocks I was given advice on to buy for dividend growth. Essentially I was told whenever JNJ yields 3% to buy until it hurts.
